Forward Deployed Application Engineer Intern supports the development of client-facing product features across the data, API, and UI stack. Working closely with senior engineers, the role helps build and improve features, contribute to front-end and back-end implementation, and learns how data flows through the platform to the end-user experience. The role is designed for strong junior talent with solid technical foundations, curiosity, and a willingness to learn both the engineering stack and the insurance domain.
Support feature delivery end-to-end:Contribute to feature development across API endpoints, server-side logic, and UI components under guidance from senior engineers.
Assist with client-side computation logic:Implement and test mathematical or actuarial calculations on the front-end with support and review from more experienced team members.
Work with required data sources:Learn how to navigate data ontologies and data architecture to locate and use relevant data for product features.
Build domain understanding:Develop familiarity with insurance and actuarial concepts to better understand the product and contribute effectively.
Use AI-assisted workflows:Apply AI tools such as Copilot, code generation, and testing support to improve productivity, learning, and code quality.
Foundation in TypeScript / Node.js, with academic, internship, or project experience using backend frameworks such as NestJS, Express, or similar.
Foundation in React, including component-based development and basic state management.
Good quantitative aptitude and comfort working with structured logic, calculations, and data-driven problems.
Strong willingness to learn and take feedback in a fast-paced product and engineering environment.
Interest in developing knowledge of insurance, actuarial concepts, and business logic over time.
Comfortable using AI tools to support coding, debugging, testing, and learning.
Familiarity with SQLor data querying through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
Exposure to data visualization libraries (such as D3, Recharts, or AG Grid) is a plus.
