Title of Role: Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

Office Type: Onsite (5–6 days/week, with flexibility on Saturdays)
Salary: $160,000 – $190,000 + Equity
Our client is an early-stage, venture-backed fintech startup building an AI-native platform to modernize accounts receivable and order-to-cash workflows. Their technology helps businesses automate invoicing, collections, and financial operations—unlocking billions in trapped cash flow across the global B2B payments ecosystem.
Founded by experienced entrepreneurs with a proven track record of building and exiting successful companies, the team is small, highly technical, and operating with strong early traction. With dozens of customers already onboard and plans to raise a Series A in the near future, this is a unique opportunity to join just before the next phase of rapid growth.
Lead end-to-end technical implementations for customers, from initial requirements through deployment and go-live
Design and build backend systems for billing infrastructure, including data mapping, schema design, and integrations
Work directly with customer engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges and ensure successful adoption
Contribute to internal product development, improving core platform capabilities and tooling
Act as a technical point of contact post-deployment, supporting ongoing customer needs and escalations
Balance time between customer-facing implementation work (50–60%) and internal engineering (40–50%)
Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
2–7 years of experience as a software engineer in fast-paced or startup environments
Strong backend engineering experience with TypeScript and Go
Experience in customer-facing technical roles (e.g., Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Technical Consultant)
Proven ability to own and deliver complex implementations end-to-end
Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customer engineering teams
Comfortable working onsite in New York and engaging in a highly collaborative environment
High agency, adaptability, and ability to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly evolving settings
Experience in fintech, B2B payments, billing, or accounting systems
Prior experience in an FDE or similar hybrid engineering/customer role
Background at high-growth, venture-backed startups or top-tier technology companies
Exposure to data modeling, APIs, and system integrations
Experience as a founder or early engineer at a startup
Strong academic background in Computer Science or a related field
