Company Description

Our client is a mission-driven organization revitalizing the American industrial base through cutting-edge software and data solutions. With deep roots in world-class manufacturing and a relentless focus on impact, they empower institutions to harness data as a core asset. This company operates at the intersection of technology and critical infrastructure — shaping the future of industries ranging from defense and energy to logistics and manufacturing.

As a third-party recruiting partner, we’re thrilled to represent this opportunity for talented engineers who want to solve meaningful real-world problems through code and creativity.

What You Will Do

As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer (FDSE), you'll be embedded on-site with customers to identify, design, and implement solutions to their most pressing challenges. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and customer stakeholders, from factory floors to executive boardrooms, and own full-cycle software development—from problem discovery to deployment.

You’ll:

  • Lead technical engagements from inception through delivery with high autonomy

  • Design and build scalable systems that solve critical operational problems

  • Create custom applications, dashboards, and infrastructure that surface insights from massive-scale datasets

  • Partner closely with stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, and business goals

  • Contribute to strategic decision-making and technical architecture choices

  • Travel as needed to client sites (up to 25%, based on preference and project needs)

This role is ideal for candidates interested in building like a startup CTO and learning by doing.

Ideal Candidate Background

  • 1–4 years of experience in a post-college, technically rigorous role

  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one core programming language (Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar)

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and systems thinking

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, iterate quickly, and adapt to evolving user needs

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or related technical field

  • Willing and able to work on-site in NYC in a hybrid capacity

Preferred

  • Experience working with large-scale data systems, infrastructure, or full-stack applications

  • Background in startups, product development, or client-facing software roles

  • Passion for impactful technology in sectors like manufacturing, energy, or defense

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $135,000 to $200,000 (commensurate with experience)

  • Equity: Available depending on experience and seniority

  • Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage; generous time off; wellness programs; learning stipends; and opportunities for internal mobility and career growth

  • Work Environment: Hybrid policy encourages in-office collaboration while providing flexibility with remote days

  • Travel: Light travel to client sites (up to 25%), fully supported and coordinated by the team
