This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer - Forward Deployed in the United States and Canada.

We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Back-End Engineer to work at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success. In this forward-deployed role, you will partner directly with strategic clients to understand their technical requirements, then design, implement, and optimize solutions that maximize impact. You will contribute to scalable platform improvements while addressing real-world customer challenges, blending hands-on coding with problem-solving in a fast-paced, remote-first environment. This role requires empathy, initiative, and excellent communication skills, enabling you to bridge technical and business needs across multiple stakeholders.

Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with customers to understand technical requirements, business objectives, and desired outcomes.
  • Design and implement customized solutions using APIs, webhooks, and backend infrastructure.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product Managers, Solutions Engineers, and Backend/Frontend Engineers to deliver customer-specific and scalable improvements.
  • Contribute customer insights to product planning and roadmap development.
  • Build and enhance product features, troubleshoot issues, and improve platform reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during onboarding, implementation, and post-sale expansion.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them unlock the full potential of the platform.


Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack software engineer, ideally in SaaS or B2B environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, with a solid understanding of software engineering best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, particularly PostgreSQL, including query optimization, migrations, and data modeling.
  • Experience with API development, validation, and performance tuning.
  • Proven ability to deliver client-facing solutions, translating technical details into actionable solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments, taking ownership from idea to delivery.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in fintech, HR tech, or SaaS platforms.
  • Familiarity deploying solutions in customer environments, including custom scripts, middleware, or internal APIs.
  • Prior experience in forward-deployed or client-integrated engineering roles.
