The Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Inversion, you’ll operate at the intersection of product, blockchain, and business transformation. You’ll own critical technical systems, lead integrations with fintech and blockchain partners, and act as a technical partner in strategic initiatives as we evaluate and execute acquisitions.
This is a hands-on, high-agency role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and delivers production systems that directly power real businesses. You’ll work in small, focused teams to design, build, and deploy blockchain solutions that drive measurable outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate closely with engineers, product leaders, and portfolio companies to design and deploy blockchain-powered systems that solve real operational problems
Build, operate, and integrate blockchain infrastructure, including EVM-compatible systems or Avalanche subnets, fintech layers, and data pipelines
Design and deliver custom applications, APIs, and integrations that translate complex business requirements into production-grade systems
Engage directly with customers and stakeholders, from technical leads to CEOs, guiding blockchain adoption through clear communication and pragmatic execution
Own projects end to end, from ideation through deployment, navigating ambiguity and solving complex, real-world problems at scale
What We’re Looking For
Strong technical foundation in computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, or a related field, with practical understanding of systems, data structures, and algorithms
A forward-deployed mindset, with comfort embedding closely with customers and operating teams to solve hands-on problems
Strong systems thinking, with the ability to design solutions that work end to end across data, infrastructure, and user workflows
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate seamlessly between technical and business contexts
High ownership and initiative, with a bias toward execution and delivery
Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous, startup-style environments
Preferred Experience
Experience in forward-deployed engineering roles or at companies such as Palantir, Anduril, or Scale AI
Hands-on familiarity with blockchain systems such as EVM-based chains, Avalanche, Cosmos, or Layer 2 solutions
Experience in fintech or payments, including KYC/KYB, custody, or settlement systems
Background in distributed systems, data pipelines, or production debugging
Exposure to smart contract deployment or blockchain security best practices
Prior experience in startups or other high-autonomy environments
