Forward Deployed Software Engineer (FDSE)

We are seeking a Mid-Level Forward Deployed Software Engineer to support the development and delivery of mission-critical data and analytics capabilities within a fast-paced defense environment. This role combines software engineering, data integration, and front-end dashboard development within a structured agile framework.

The ideal candidate will contribute directly to feature development, CI/CD support, and deployment activities while collaborating closely with senior engineers and government stakeholders. Engineers operate in two-week sprint cycles and are expected to contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design through production deployment.

Successful candidates take ownership of their work by building reliable features, writing maintainable code, and ensuring sprint deliverables are production-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and deliver front-end analytical dashboard views using Palantir Foundry Workshop/Slate under the guidance of senior engineers
• Support CI/CD pipeline configuration tasks, including build scripts, automated testing, and environment promotion workflows
• Implement metric definitions and data transformations aligned to the Foundry Ontology to ensure consistent data interpretation across dashboards
• Produce clear technical documentation, including configuration notes, runbooks, and sprint artifacts
• Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and demonstrations with government stakeholders
• Conduct testing and validation to ensure dashboards function correctly and data aligns with approved definitions
• Identify integration issues, communicate blockers early, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges
• Support defect resolution and incremental platform enhancements to maintain stable operations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, including pipelines, Workshop/Slate, and Ontology
• 3+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience with Python, TypeScript, or Java within cloud-based data platforms
• Experience supporting government, defense, or classified environments
• Ability to independently develop features, test functionality, and deliver production-ready solutions
• Comfortable working within small, fast-moving technical teams
